Zero Tolerance

Staff at East Leicester Medical Practice are here to help you as far as possible within the resources the NHS has provided for the practice.

We understand that it can be stressful for patients when there are long waits or if you are feeling unwell, but we have a zero tolerance policy to aggressive behaviour and rudeness to our staff.

Please treat all surgery staff, fellow patients, carers and visitors politely and with respect. Violence or verbal harassment will not be tolerated or accepted, you may be asked to register at another surgery if this behaviour occurs.

Types of behaviour that are unacceptable include:

• Physical assault
• Offensive language
• Verbal abuse
• Swearing
• Shouting and intrusive behaviour
• Abusive remarks
• Negative, spiteful and stereotypical comments
• Invasion of personal space
• Wielding of objects / weapons
• Attempting physical abuse – threats of injury
• Offensive gestures
• Damage to the property
• Bullying, victimisation and intimidation
• Stalking – threatening behaviour towards staff outside their workplace

If you are considered to have breached this policy one or more of the following may occur depending on the circumstances

• Invited for a discussion with the practice manager or senior partner
• Removed from the practice list
• Reported to the Police
