Expanding health research in our community
We’re proud to be part of the new National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Leicestershire and Northamptonshire Commercial Research Delivery Centre (CRDC), which is hosted by University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust (UHL).
NIHR Leicestershire and Northamptonshire CRDC is one of 21 CRDCs across the UK set up to increase commercial clinical research and respond to the five pillars of the UK Clinical Research Delivery Vision.
Commercial research refers to clinical studies funded and sponsored by pharmaceutical companies or the biotech industry to test new treatments, medicines, or medical devices. These studies help ensure that new healthcare innovations are safe and effective before they become widely available in the NHS and other healthcare systems.
The CRDC initiative will bring more commercial clinical trials to Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, giving local people access to cutting-edge treatments while supporting health research.
